Tuna Melts on Tomatoes

Put aside those carb-filled English muffins, tuna salad doesn’t need them anymore! Choose ripe red tomatoes for slices that will be the base for this tasty meal.

Ingredients

  • 170 grams canned tuna in water drained
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon dill pickle finely chopped
  • ¾ tablespoon celery finely chopped
  • ¾ tablespoon peeled and finely chopped brown onion
  • â…› teaspoon salt
  • â…› teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 thick slices of a large tomato
  • 1 small avocado peeled, pitted and cut into 8 slices
  • ½ cup grated mild Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Combine tuna, mayonnaise, mustard, pickles, celery, onion, salt and pepper in a medium bowl.
  • Preheat air fryer at 180°C for 3 minutes.
  • Cut a piece of baking paper to fit the bottom of the air fryer basket.
  • Place tomato slices on paper in single layer.
  • Place two avocado slices on each tomato slice.
  • Distribute tuna salad over avocado slices.
  • Top evenly with cheese.
  • Place stacks in ungreased air fryer basket and cook for 4 minutes until cheese starts to brown.
  • Serve warm.
