Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 can tomato sauce 15 oz
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vinegar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground allspice
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper

Instructions

  • In a large pot, mix ground beef and water until soupy.
  • Stir in tomato sauce, bay leaves, ground cinnamon, salt, vinegar, ground allspice, garlic powder, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, cumin, chili powder, and crushed red pepper.
  • Simmer the chili uncovered for 3 hours, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  • Serve hot, optionally topped with grated Cheddar cheese, chopped onions, or chili beans.
  • This chili also pairs well as a sauce over noodles or spaghetti.
