Equipment

  • Saucepan 2-quart

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1.5 pounds ground round beef
  • 2 cans 12 oz each Heinz brown gravy
  • 1 packet envelope onion soup mix
  • 2 cans 15 oz each red kidney beans
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin powder
  • 1/4 cup bottled Italian dressing
  • 12 oz V-8 Juice
  • 4 teaspoons sugar or 3 packets of Equal

Instructions

  • In a 2-quart saucepan, heat oil over medium-high heat.
  • Brown ground round beef, crumbling with a fork until pink color disappears and beef is mashed to the size of rice.
  • Stir in Heinz brown gravy, onion soup mix, red kidney beans, chili powder, cumin powder, bottled Italian dressing, V-8 Juice, and sugar.
  • Stir well and often, reduce heat to low, and simmer until piping hot.
  • Serve hot, optionally garnished with shredded cheese, sour cream, or diced onions.
