Spiced Orange & Raisin Stuffed Apples
Tender apples filled with a spiced orange and raisin mixture, slow-cooked to sweet perfection. A warm, comforting dessert.
Equipment
- slow cooker
- Small bowl
- Apple corer
- Measuring spoons and cups
Ingredients
- 4 medium apples such as Honeycrisp or Braeburn
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 2 tbsp orange zest
- 2 tbsp butter or dairy-free butter
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp cloves
- 2 tbsp brown sugar or maple syrup
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Core the apples, leaving the bottom intact.
- In a small bowl, combine raisins, orange juice, orange zest, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and brown sugar.
- Mix well to combine.
- Stuff each apple with the raisin mixture.
- Pour water into the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Place the stuffed apples in the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 3 hours, or until apples are tender.
- Carefully remove the apples from the slow cooker.
- Drizzle any remaining liquid from the slow cooker over the apples before serving.
- Serve warm.
