Hearty Beef and Bean Chili
Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup water
- 1 can 15 oz tomato puree
- 1 can 15 oz whole tomatoes, broken into pieces
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 2 small bay leaves
- 1 package chili powder
- 2 cans 15 oz each kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked.
- Add water, tomato puree, and whole tomatoes to the pot with the cooked beef.
- Season with salt, pepper, garlic salt, allspice, bay leaves, and chili powder.
- Stir well to combine.
- Simmer the chili over low heat for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
- After simmering, add the kidney beans and vinegar to the pot.
- Cook until the beans are heated through.
- Remove the bay leaves before serving.
