Oyster Sauce Glazed Chicken Wings

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Chicken wings about 8 wings
  • 3 slices Fresh ginger root
  • Vegetable oil
  • 4 tablespoons Oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dry sherry
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 cup Water

Instructions

  • Cut each chicken wing into two pieces by separating at the joint, discarding the tips.
  • Heat the ginger slices in a wok with vegetable oil.
  • Add a third of the chicken wings at a time and brown them.
  • Once the wings are browned, drain the excess oil and remove the ginger slices from the wok.
  • In a bowl, mix oyster sauce, dry sherry, sugar, soy sauce, and water.
  • Place the browned wings in the wok and pour the sauce mixture over them.
  • Simmer covered for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Uncover and continue cooking for an additional 12 to 15 minutes, basting frequently with the sauce until the wings are tender and nicely glazed.
