Ingredients

  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves finely minced
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup of dried bread crumbs
  • 3 tablespoons of ketchup
  • ¼ cup of Italian parsley leaves chopped
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Pecorino Romano cheese
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 1 pound ground dark turkey meat
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 26 ounces of marinara sauce

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, ketchup, chopped parsley, grated Parmesan cheese, grated Pecorino Romano cheese, salt, and ground black pepper.
  • Blend well.
  • Add the ground turkey to the mixture and mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  • Shape the mixture into 1 ¼-inch meatballs and place them on a large plate or baking sheet.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the meatballs to the skillet and sauté until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.
  • Turn off the heat and transfer the browned meatballs to a plate.
  • Drain any excess oil from the skillet, then add the marinara sauce to the pan.
  • Return the meatballs to the skillet and simmer over medium-low heat until the sauce thickens, about 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Season the sauce to taste with salt and pepper.
  • Transfer the meatballs and sauce to a serving bowl and serve with toothpicks for easy eating.
