Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apricot preserves
  • 2 1/2 pound New York strip steaks, 1 inch thick
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Stir together, olive oil, garlic, sugar, cinnamon and apricot preserves.
  • Mix thoroughly to avoid preserves from sticking together.
  • Cut shallow slashes on both sides of the steaks, using a knife.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Add steaks to the sauce, coat entirely.
  • Cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  • Preheat grill for high heat.
  • Grease the grill grate.
  • Discard the sauce and place steaks on the hot grill.
  • Cook for 10 minutes, turning occasionally.
