New York Strip Chicago Style
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon white sugar
- 2 tablespoons apricot preserves
- 2 1/2 pound New York strip steaks, 1 inch thick
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Stir together, olive oil, garlic, sugar, cinnamon and apricot preserves.
- Mix thoroughly to avoid preserves from sticking together.
- Cut shallow slashes on both sides of the steaks, using a knife.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Add steaks to the sauce, coat entirely.
- Cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Preheat grill for high heat.
- Grease the grill grate.
- Discard the sauce and place steaks on the hot grill.
- Cook for 10 minutes, turning occasionally.
