Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter or margarine softened
  • cups granulated sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup hickory nuts
  • 5 egg whites beaten until stiff

Instructions

  • Cream butter or margarine and sugar together.
  • Mix together flour and baking powder.
  • Add dry ingredients alternately with milk to creamed butter and sugar.
  • Blend in vanilla.
  • Stir in nuts.
  • Fold in egg whites.
  • Bake in 2 greased and floured cake pans at 350° for 30 minutes.
