If using bacon, cut up and fry the bacon.

In a large bowl, mix together the dry ingredients.

In another bowl, mix together the egg and milk and then add it to the dry ingredients; mix well.

Add bacon if using and mix well again.

Drop by large spoonfuls into bacon grease or oil and fry until golden brown.
