Hush Puppies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup milk may need a bit more
  • 4 slices bacon optional

Instructions

  • If using bacon, cut up and fry the bacon.
  • (Save the grease for frying the hush puppies.
  • )
  • In a large bowl, mix together the dry ingredients.
  • In another bowl, mix together the egg and milk and then add it to the dry ingredients; mix well.
  • Add bacon if using and mix well again.
  • Drop by large spoonfuls into bacon grease or oil and fry until golden brown.

Notes & Wine Advice

Serve with maple syrup or eat plain.
