Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet chili seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 can 14-1/2 ounces whole tomatoes, cut up
  • 1 can 16 ounces kidney beans, drained
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper sauce
  • 1 red pepper chopped (optional)
  • 1 green onion chopped (optional)
  • Shredded cheddar cheese for garnish optional

Instructions

  • In a Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium heat; drain excess fat.
  • Stir in the chili seasoning mix, water, tomatoes, beans, and cayenne pepper sauce.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes.
  • Serve hot, garnished with chopped red pepper, green onion, and shredded cheddar cheese if desired.

A bold and fruity Zinfandel would complement the robust flavors of the chili, while its hint of spice would resonate with the cayenne pepper sauce.
