Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
Stir in the plain flour, bicarbonate of soda and chopped milk chocolate until a stiff dough forms.
Roll the dough into 12 walnut-sized balls and flatten them slightly.
Preheat the air fryer to 160°C.
Line the air fryer basket with baking paper.
Air fry the cookies in batches for 9 to 15 minutes, until golden.
Leave the cookies in the air fryer basket for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool.
Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
Notes & Wine Advice
Serving Suggestions
Serve the cookies once they have cooled slightly, while the chocolate pieces are still soft. They are delicious with coffee, tea or a cold glass of milk.
Recipe Notes
Make the dough balls approximately the same size so the cookies cook evenly. Flatten them slightly before air frying because they will spread during cooking.
Cooking Advice
Cook the cookies in batches and leave enough space between them for the hot air to circulate. Let them rest in the basket for a few minutes after cooking because freshly cooked cookies are soft and become firmer as they cool.
Storage Advice
Store completely cooled cookies in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
Wine Advice
These sweet milk chocolate cookies are better suited to coffee, tea or milk than wine, so no wine pairing is necessary.
