Bush Tomato Pizza Rolls combine crisp puff pastry with tangy bush tomato paste and melted mozzarella. These Australian-inspired air fryer bites make an easy appetizer, snack, or party dish.
Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (356°F) for 3 minutes.
Lightly dust the work surface with flour.
Roll the puff pastry into an even rectangle.
Spread the bush tomato paste over the pastry.
Leave a 1 cm border around the edges.
Distribute the mozzarella evenly over the paste.
Add the preferred toppings without overfilling the pastry.
Roll the pastry tightly into a log.
Cut the log into 12 equal slices.
Arrange the rolls in the air fryer basket with space between them.
Brush the tops lightly with beaten egg.
Air fry for 8–10 minutes until puffed and golden.
Cook in batches when necessary.
Transfer the rolls to a serving plate.
Rest for 3 minutes.
Sprinkle with bush tomato flakes if desired.
Serve warm.
Notes & Wine Advice
Serving Suggestions
Serve the rolls warm with extra bush tomato sauce, garlic dip, or a fresh green salad. Add them to a platter with other Party Food recipes or serve them during a movie night. Browse our Dip recipes for suitable accompaniments.
Recipe Notes
Do not overload the pastry because excess filling can escape as the rolls cook. Chill a soft pastry log for 15 minutes before slicing. Leave room between the rolls so the pastry can expand and become crisp. Cook them in batches rather than overcrowding the basket.
Variations
Use regular tomato paste mixed with dried bush tomato flakes when bush tomato paste is unavailable. Add bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, onions, or fresh basil. Pepperoni or cooked chicken can be added for a non-vegetarian version. Explore our Pizza recipes, Cheese recipes, and Spices & Seasoning recipes for more ideas.
Wine Advice
A fruity Sangiovese complements the tomato and melted cheese. A crisp Prosecco provides a refreshing contrast to the rich puff pastry.
