Classic Sweet and Spicy Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup puréed onion
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons hoisin sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon each of smoked paprika and hot red chili flakes

Instructions

  • Heat oil and cook onion for a minute, stirring constantly.
  • Stir in ketchup, tomato sauce, brown sugar, hoisin, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Season it with paprika and pepper flakes.
  • Cook stirring for 5-8 minutes.
