Instructions
Heat the vegetable oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat.
Add the minced onion and sauté for about 4 minutes until softened.
Stir in Dr Pepper, crushed tomatoes, orange juice, cider vinegar, honey, cayenne pepper, and salt.
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
Cook for 30 minutes while stirring occasionally.
Transfer the sauce carefully to a blender.
Blend until smooth.
Return the blended sauce to the saucepan.
Simmer uncovered for 1 to 2 hours until thickened and rich.
Allow the sauce to cool slightly before serving.
