ground hot Italian pork sausage
formed into 8 patties

package whole wheat spaghetti pasta
cooked
Garnish:

grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat.
Sauté chopped onion and minced garlic until tender.
Stir in diced tomatoes with juice, tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, sugar, and seasonings.
Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 30 minutes.
Discard the bay leaf and stir in Romano cheese.
Cover and cook for an additional 30 minutes.
In a separate skillet, brown the sausage patties on both sides until no longer pink in the middle, about 10 minutes.
Divide the cooked spaghetti among serving bowls.
Top each serving with a sausage patty and generously ladle the marinara sauce over the top.
Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese.
