About These Cranberry Brie Croissants
These Cranberry Brie Croissants are a wonderfully simple way to turn an everyday croissant into something special enough for breakfast, brunch, lunch or a festive occasion. Flaky pastry, creamy Brie, salty prosciutto, sweet cranberry sauce and peppery rocket create a combination in which every ingredient brings something different to the plate. Once warmed in the air fryer, those contrasting flavours and textures come together beautifully.
The air fryer is particularly useful for this recipe because it heats the croissants quickly while keeping the outside crisp. At the same time, the Brie becomes wonderfully soft and melting, while the prosciutto develops lightly crisp edges. Five minutes is usually enough, making this an excellent recipe when you want something impressive without spending half the morning in the kitchen. Brie and cranberry are a familiar festive pairing for good reason. Brie contributes a rich, buttery flavour, while cranberry sauce brings sweetness and a gentle fruity sharpness that cuts through that richness. Prosciutto provides saltiness and savoury depth. The rocket is deliberately added after cooking so the leaves remain fresh and peppery rather than becoming warm and wilted.
Although these Cranberry Brie Croissants are particularly well suited to Christmas, there is no reason to reserve them for December. Serve them for a relaxed weekend breakfast, an Easter gathering, Mother’s Day brunch or an informal lunch with family and friends. They are also a handy way to use an open jar of cranberry sauce after a festive meal. For more dishes to serve alongside them, browse the brunch recipes on RecipeCollectors and build a table with both sweet and savoury dishes.
The flavours fit comfortably within an English and broader European style of cooking. Discover more English recipes or explore the wider collection of European recipes. These croissants are also easy to adapt. Camembert can provide a similar creamy character to Brie, while another cured ham can replace the prosciutto. Add a little more rocket if you prefer a fresher finish, or adjust the cranberry sauce depending on whether you like the filling sweeter or more savoury. Try not to overfill the croissants. Too much cheese or cranberry sauce can escape as everything heats, leaving the air fryer basket enjoying rather more of your lunch than intended.
If you have leftovers, allow the croissants to cool before refrigerating them in a covered container. Reheat them briefly in the air fryer and add fresh rocket afterwards for the best texture. Good refrigeration and careful handling are especially important when storing foods containing cheese and cured meat. For reliable information about refrigeration, leftovers and safe food handling, consult the U.S. Food and Drug Administration food storage guidance.
The real appeal of these Cranberry Brie Croissants is their simplicity. There is no complicated preparation, no long ingredient list and very little washing up afterwards. Split, spread, fill and air fry. Just keep an eye on them during the final minute. Buttery pastry can make the journey from beautifully golden to suspiciously bronzed in roughly the time it takes to pour a cup of coffee.
