Drop Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup milk
  • 5 cups flour

Icing

  • 6 Tbsp. butter at room temperature
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • dash of salt
  • 1 pound confectioner’s sugar sifted
  • 5 Tbsp. milk

Instructions

  • Cream together shortening, sugar, and eggs.
  • Mix in baking soda and powder, salt and vanilla.
  • Add milk and flour alternately to creamed mixture.
  • Bake at 350° for 10–12 minutes.
  • Makes 10–11 dozen cookies

Icing

  • Mix all ingredients together for 1 minutes.
  • Spread on cooled cookies, or first divide into several parts and add different food colors to each part, to give variety.
