Air fryer cardamom porridge combines brown rice, coconut milk, shredded coconut, dates, and dark brown sugar. Air frying thickens the mixture and caramelizes the top for a rich breakfast or dessert.
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
Add the coconut milk, brown rice, shredded coconut, dark brown sugar, kosher salt, ground cardamom, and dates to an 8-inch round baking dish.
Stir until the ingredients are evenly combined.
Place the baking dish in the air fryer basket.
Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 12 minutes.
Carefully stir the porridge.
Continue air frying for 11–13 minutes until thickened and lightly caramelized on top.
Remove the baking dish carefully from the air fryer.
Allow the porridge to rest for 5 minutes.
Divide the porridge among 4 bowls.
Drizzle with heavy cream if desired.
Serve warm.

Recipe Notes
Use cooked brown rice and full-fat canned coconut milk for the creamiest texture. Stir the porridge halfway through cooking to prevent the rice and dates from settling. It thickens further while resting. Discover more efficient dishes in our Air Fryer Recipes.
Variations
Replace brown rice with cooked quinoa, barley, farro, or another cooked grain. Maple syrup or honey can replace part of the brown sugar. Raisins, dried apricots, or dried cranberries can replace the dates. Use coconut cream instead of heavy cream for a dairy-free and vegan version.
Wine Advice
A lightly sweet Gewürztraminer complements the cardamom and dates. A chilled Moscato d’Asti is a suitable choice when serving the porridge as dessert.
