Notes & Wine Advice
LITERALLY CAN’T EVEN
Switch up the flavor of the gelatin and juices to make all kinds of different combinations. Just make sure that you stick to the basic ratios so the gelatin sets: 1 cup boiling water, 1 (3-ounce) package gelatin, 5 to 6 ounces liquor, and ¼ cup cold water.
Frosé on a summer day is more satisfying than a childhood bully growing up to be ugly. Normal liquid rosé is already a fabulous complement to brunch foods and petty conversation, but we basics like it frozen, not unlike our foreheads after a semiannual tune-up with injectables. This is why frosé is basicness at its peak. It’s refreshing, it’s pink, it’s sweet, it gets you drunk, it’s Insta-ready, and it’s surprisingly easy to make on your own. Just use the entire bottle and invite some friends over to lip-synch for their lives. I judge anyone who needs to invest in a wine stopper.
Give Me Angelina Jolie’s Collarbones Detox Smoothie
A bitter-tasting smoothie is more annoying than someone who puts an apostrophe when trying (and failing) to make a word plural. Trendy ingredients such as moringa, spirulina, and ginkgo biloba are hard to say and even harder to mask in a postworkout bev. They don’t taste good on their own and, when combined, can emit smells that rival my third-grade teacher’s halitosis. Until now. Somehow, I’ve managed to concoct a blend that doesn’t smell like a subway platform as you sip. And it’s chock-full of all the vitamins, nutrients, and minerals that dietitians say are good for you. You’re welcome, health freaks.
On a scale of one to “I want to punch you in the face,” I’m practically a broken jaw when it comes to how annoying I am about the arrival of fall. And nothing screams “fall” more than a pumpkin spice latte, despite the fact that its annual debut happens before we even have the chance to wipe off the sunscreen and dust off our old Uggs. Sure, that smirking green siren may make a decent one (she’s trademarked the term “PSL,” after all), but this homemade alternative with actual pumpkin puree will knock your hygge-friendly wool socks off. In fact, if you make it and aren’t 100 percent satisfied, then you’re definitely not the type to know where your locally sourced kale comes from, and I simply can’t relate.
Marinated flank steak combines tender beef with a rich savory marinade that caramelizes beautifully on the grill. The soy sauce, honey, vinegar, ginger, and garlic create deep flavor while helping tenderize the meat during the long marinating process. Once grilled, the flank steak develops smoky charred edges while staying juicy and flavorful inside.
What makes this flank steak recipe especially appealing is its simplicity. Everyday pantry ingredients transform an affordable cut of beef into a rich barbecue dinner packed with savory and slightly sweet flavor. The marinade penetrates the meat deeply, creating balanced flavor in every slice.
Why marinated flank steak works perfectly on the barbecue
The popularity of marinated flank steak continues to grow because flank steak responds beautifully to marinades and high grill heat. The marinade helps tenderize the meat while adding layers of sweet, salty, and savory flavor. Grilling over high heat also creates delicious caramelization on the outside while preserving juicy texture inside.
Another reason this beef recipe works so well is its versatility. The steak can be sliced thinly for salads, sandwiches, wraps, tacos, or served as a classic grilled main course alongside vegetables or potatoes.
Simple marinade creates rich flavor
The marinade is one of the highlights of this marinated flank steak recipe because it creates deep flavor using only a handful of ingredients. Soy sauce adds savory richness while honey creates light sweetness and caramelization on the grill. Ginger and garlic powder provide warmth and depth without overpowering the beef.

Texture plays an important role in this barbecue steak recipe. The exterior becomes lightly charred and caramelized while the inside stays juicy and tender. Slicing the flank steak thinly against the grain also helps create the best texture after grilling.
The vinegar inside the marinade helps balance the sweetness of the honey while also helping tenderize the beef naturally. Combined with vegetable oil, the marinade coats the meat evenly and prevents it from drying out during cooking.
This marinated flank steak recipe also works perfectly for entertaining because the beef can marinate overnight before grilling. Once the barbecue becomes hot, the steak cooks quickly and slices easily for serving guests outdoors.
Proper food handling remains important whenever preparing raw beef and marinades. Flank steak should always be cooked safely and handled carefully during marinating and grilling. For additional grilling and meat safety guidance, visit the FDA.
Ultimately, marinated flank steak delivers smoky grilled flavor, juicy beef texture, and rich savory marinade in a classic barbecue recipe perfect for summer dinners and outdoor cookouts.

To avoid your calamari from becoming too chewy you need to either cook it really fast or really slow. When cooked serve it in a large bowl or as individual servings to your guests.
In a bowl place the olive oil; lemon juice and salt then stir until they combined together.
Then into this mix the garlic and the whole sprigs or dried oregano.
Whilst you are making up this sauce you should be getting the barbecue heated up and place the grill down as low as possible in order to cook the calamari quick on a very high heat.
When the barbecue has heated up place the squid on the oiled grill and char each side of it for 1 minute.
Now remove from the barbecue and slice all parts of the calamari including the tendrils cross wise into ¼ inch rings.
Then add the calamari to the lemon sauce made earlier and then place on a serving plate.
Just before you serve this dish to your guests make sure that you sprinkle over some freshly ground black pepper.

Barbecued Oysters Served With Hogwash
Smoky grilled oysters topped with fresh hogwash sauce made with lime, cilantro, and rice vinegar.
In a large resealable bag place the scallops and shrimps.
Now into a bowl (that can be used safely in a microwave) place the butter or margarine, the lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and paprika.
Cook on 50% power for about 1 to 1 ½ minutes or until the butter/margarine is melted then stir to ensure that all these ingredients are blended together.
Once the sauce is made set aside about a third of it as this you will then use to baste the shrimps and scallops in whilst they are cooking.
As for the rest of the sauce this must be poured over the scallops and shrimps in the bag.
Now seal the bag and turn it over several times to ensure that every scallop and shrimp is coated in the sauce and place in the refrigerator for one hour.
Whilst in the refrigerator make sure that you turn the back over occasionally.
Whilst the barbecue is heating up you can now prepare the kebabs.
Take some wooden skewers that have been soaking in water and thread alternately on to them the scallops and shrimps.
Once all the kebabs are made place them on the preheated barbecue and cook them on a medium to hot heat for 6 minutes turning once during this time.
Both before and during this cooking time baste them occasionally with the sauce you set to one side earlier.
Then cook them for a further 8 to 10 minutes or longer until the shrimps have turned pink and the scallops opaque.
